Finally! Tickets have been purchased and a route decided. The stress level increased, decreased, increased and has finally leveled off to just mildly neurotic! Have decided to fly the girls to Vegas then San Diego for Clint's wedding (Tom's little brother) and then home in November. They leave this Tuesday, July 21st and will return to Gustavus on November 14th. They will spend three weeks with Tom's mom in Vegas, then one week with Tom's dad in San Diego. I will travel south to Vegas to meet up with them on August 27th. Our adventure will begin on August 29th. Tom will hold down the fort until he meets up with us in early November.
Will be homeschooling, but have decided to take only math and english curriculum materials. Our travels to over 30 National Parks and Monuments will be education enough in science, history and social studies. Will purchase supplemental materials along the way. I have a lot to get ready.
Needless to say, we are all very excited. The girls packed up some of their stuff today (with my approval of course!) No blankets (B's) or stuffed animals allowed! Today I showed Abbey and Emily how to light the camp stove! Little Emily lit the match and held it "tip down" and got quite a fright! Oops. Decided she's a bit young to light the stove. Abbey did a fine job, just a little tentative. She'll be pro in a week.
